Edward Scissorhands

Edward Scissorhands
Peg is the local Avon lady who comes across an old, dilapidated mansion outside of the local community. Peg ventures inside and discovers Edward, an usual young man, who was created by an inventor. However, the inventor died before completing his masterpiece, leaving Edward with scissors for hands. Peg convinces Edward to come and live with her and her family. Their good deeds soon turn complicated with meddling neighbors and Edward’s new-found feelings for Peg’s daughter, Kim. Here are a few movie mistakes to look for while watching “Edward Scissorhands”.

∙ Joyce is holding a cigarette in her left hand while talking to the dishwasher repairman. She still has it when the doorbell rings and she tells him “I wouldn’t want to miss a moment of it” before walking to the door. But, when she opens the door, the cigarette is gone.

∙ Bill, Kevin and Edward are outside. Bill tells Kevin to go get the oil can. When Kevin runs off, Edward walks over to where Bill is sitting in the lounge chair. In the closer view, Edward stops next to the lounge chair when Peg comes over and starts talking to him. The scene cuts to a farther view and Edward is shown still walking up to the lounge chair.

∙ Edward meets the family at the diner after the beauty salon incident with Joyce. The view of Edward, Kim, Kevin and Peg after he (Edward) says, “And then she showed me the back room…”, shows Peg is holding a fork in her right hand, her food in her left. Kevin’s left hand is holding the ketchup bottle on the table. It cuts to a different view to include Bill, and Peg is no longer holding the fork while Kevin is shown placing the ketchup bottle down on the table, although he hadn’t picked it up.

∙ CAUTION: May Contain Spoilers! Edward has fled back to the mansion. Kim goes after him and finds him upstairs. Edward is sitting down, and she kneels on the floor in front of him. They’re still this way when they’re talking, and Kim mentions she thought he was dead. Jim comes out of the shadows and says, “I didn’t” and fires a gun. Kim and Edward are now in different positions, she’s now to his right and they’re both standing.

“Edward Scissorhands” (1990) stars Johnny Depp, Winona Ryder, Dianne Weist, Anthony Michael Hall, Kathy Baker, Robert Oliveri, Conchata Ferrell, Vincent Price, and Alan Arkin. It runs 105 minutes and is rated PG-13 for frightening / intense scenes.
